French Ambassador to Vietnam Didier Le Bret said French businesses see significant opportunities in Vietnam’s energy, rail and green‑transition sectors. Understanding these opportunities helps Vietnamese professionals spot emerging career paths.
Vietnam’s installed power capacity is about 90 GW and the government plans to add roughly 9 GW – about 10 % – using wind, solar, hydropower and nuclear sources. France, with experience in hydropower and nuclear technology, hopes to partner with Vietnam on these projects. This partnership could open jobs for engineers, project managers and specialists in renewable energy.
Vietnam plans high‑speed rail and to expand metro networks in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. France, a pioneer in high‑speed rail, has already helped build Hanoi’s metro line 3 and French firms are expected to take a larger role in consulting, design and technology transfer.
Digital transformation offers two‑way opportunities. Vietnamese tech companies are investing in France, while French firms are adopting software developed in Vietnam. Such exchanges may create openings for Vietnamese IT developers, entrepreneurs and digital‑service providers.
The alignment of Vietnam’s infrastructure expansion, green‑transition goals and France’s expertise suggests new career and business possibilities for Vietnamese workers and startups. Keeping an eye on these sectors can help you prepare for future opportunities.
