On Saturday morning Metro Line 1, the Ben Thanh‑Suoi Tien route, lost power for almost an hour. The outage is important because it stopped many people’s daily travel and also affected nearby homes.
The line lost power at 7:04 am and service did not start again until 7:57 am, according to the operator Ho Chi Minh City Urban Railway No. 1 Company Limited. During that time 14 train trips were cancelled, so commuters had to wait or find other transport.
Power Transmission Company No. 4 said a technical incident at the Thu Duc 220 kV transmission substation caused the loss. The same incident also caused power problems in several residential areas of the former Thu Duc City area, affecting local residents.
The operator confirmed that power was restored shortly after 8:00 am and that the cause is still being investigated. This event shows how a short power failure can stop metro services and disturb both travelers and nearby neighbourhoods.
