Apple is asking a very large deposit for the new iPhone Duo in Vietnam. The deposit is almost $1,200 (about VND10‑20 million), so many buyers want to know why.

The iPhone Duo is Apple’s most expensive iPhone. It starts at VND64.99 million for the 256 GB version and VND103.99 million for the 2 TB model. Pre‑orders began at 7 p.m. last Friday and deposits were accepted until the end of Saturday. Deliveries will start on Oct 23 through Apple Authorized Resellers.

A retailer spokesperson said the high deposit is meant to help Apple gauge genuine demand for its first foldable smartphone. By contrast, customers who ordered the iPhone 18 Pro series only paid VND1 million upfront.

A source said the first supply of Duo units will be far below the demand that retailers expect. This means many people may not get the phone at launch.

The high deposit shows Apple is testing real interest in its ultra‑premium foldable iPhone in Vietnam. Buyers should understand that the deposit is a way to measure true demand, not just a price increase.
