Liechtenstein Prime Minister Brigitte Haas visited Vietnam on October 18, touring Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem Lake and enjoying local ice cream. The visit is seen as a chance for Vietnam to deepen its ties with Europe.
She met with Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and President To Lam to discuss strengthening bilateral relations. During the talks they signed a double‑taxation avoidance agreement and a free‑trade agreement between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).
To Lam highlighted Liechtenstein’s status as the world’s highest per‑capita income country with strengths in high‑tech manufacturing, finance, and innovation. He emphasized that these sectors are key to Liechtenstein’s prosperity.
Both leaders said the agreements will lay the groundwork for deeper economic cooperation, trade, investment, and cultural exchange. They expressed hope that the new ties will bring tangible benefits to both countries.
The visit shows how high‑level diplomatic trips and trade deals can open new economic opportunities for Vietnam. It also signals Vietnam’s growing role in international trade and its ability to attract partners from Europe.
