The Vietnam Women’s Union held a ceremony in Hanoi on October 16 to present the 2026 Vietnam Women’s Award and the second Nguyen Thi Dinh Award. The event highlights new ways to recognise and support Vietnamese women.
From 54 nominations, the organising committee awarded five collectives and twelve individuals for achievements in scientific research, state management, corporate business, education, healthcare, the armed forces, culture and sports. These winners join a history that, since 2002, has honoured 110 collectives and 218 individuals. The award therefore showcases a broad range of female talent across the country.
The second Nguyen Thi Dinh Award recognised 32 exemplary full‑time VWU officials out of 4,000 staff at all levels. Named after the female general Nguyen Thi Dinh, the award highlights outstanding service within the Union itself.
Women constitute more than half of Vietnam’s population, nearly half of the workforce, and 30 % of National Assembly deputies, while the nation ranks among the highest in the world for women‑owned businesses. Standing Deputy Prime Minister Pham Gia Tuc noted that women are active agents and a key driver of national development, and that empowering them means helping them realise their potential. To further boost opportunities, the 2027 “Women’s Innovative Entrepreneurship: Elevating Vietnamese Brands” competition was launched. The competition aims to foster women’s entrepreneurial spirit, promote technology, digital and green transformation, and connect women entrepreneurs with resources such as investors and experts.
Together, the awards and the entrepreneurship competition create more visible pathways for Vietnamese women to access capital, technology and networks. This growing support can increase women’s impact on the economy and strengthen their role in the country’s future.
