Haze and Flight Cancellations Hit Singapore Tourism
Khói mù và hủy chuyến bay gây thiệt hại cho du lịch Singapore

Tourism in Singapore is feeling the pressure. A rise in haze and many flight cancellations are making travel harder for visitors and hurting local businesses.
Overnight visitors made up 72.9% of all arrivals, totalling 9.22 million from January to September. This is a 3.3% drop compared with last year, and the average stay fell 2.8% to 3.42 days.
The haze from forest fires in Indonesia has badly affected tourism in Singapore. Outdoor tourism businesses say bookings have fallen by up to 30% as customers postpone or cancel because the air is hazardous.
Malaysian low‑cost carrier Firefly has extended the suspension of flights between Subang Airport and Singapore’s Seletar Airport until Oct 19. This marks the 10th consecutive day of cancellations on that route.
The drop in visitors, shorter stays, lower bookings and flight cuts all show how environmental and operational problems can hurt tourism. Travelers and businesses in Singapore are feeling the direct impact.
