The new foldable iPhone Duo is so scarce in Vietnam that a resale market has emerged. Buyers are willing to pay up to VND19 million (US$720) above Apple’s official price to secure an early unit.

Pre‑orders opened at 7 p.m. on 16 October, and 30 minutes later Apple’s US online store pushed the estimated delivery date to late January 2027. Apple limited each Vietnamese customer to two units on its local store, and a source familiar with the situation told VietNamNet that only a few thousand devices were allocated to Vietnam.

Authorised Apple retailers in Vietnam reported that the initial pre‑order allocations sold out shortly after reservations opened. Representatives of several retail chains said customers who secured slots in the first round would still receive their devices starting 23 October.

Resellers posted pre‑order slots in private online groups. Prices started at VND12‑15 million above Apple’s list, then rose to VND18‑19 million (US$684‑722).

As of 18 October, a 256 GB Night Sky iPhone Duo was advertised for VND83 million, an VND18 million premium over the official price, while the 256 GB Star White version was listed at VND84 million, a VND19 million premium. According to retailers, some Apple customers are relatively insensitive to price and are ready to pay large premiums to obtain the phone early.

The Vietnamese iPhone Duo case shows how a limited supply can push resale prices far above retail, reaching up to US$720 per device. For consumers, this means that securing the latest technology may require paying a substantial extra amount.
