Vietnam will unveil 12 new investment projects worth more than US$13 billion at the Autumn Economic Forum in Ho Chi Minh City, Oct 26‑29. The announcement shows how the city is using a high‑profile event to attract capital.

Le Truong Duy, director of the Vietnam Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Ho Chi Minh City and a member of the organising committee, said the investment announcement will be made on Oct 28, right after a 60‑minute dialogue between Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and senior World Economic Forum leaders. The dialogue will focus on positioning Vietnam in the global future, and the announcement will follow the high‑level plenary session.

The forum is co‑branded with the World Economic Forum, which Duy noted is the first time a local government programme has received such co‑branding worldwide. This partnership highlights Vietnam’s growing international standing and aims to link the city with global partners.

More than 1,500 Vietnamese and international delegates are expected to attend, taking part in 16 thematic sessions, three high‑level sessions and about 300 expert presentations. According to Duy, the event seeks to mobilise international resources so Ho Chi Minh City can achieve double‑digit economic growth toward 2030. The proposed joint statement will focus on foreign direct investment, science and technology, international R&D networks and capital flows, while also discussing the shift of global growth poles toward Asia, Africa and Latin America.

The US$13 billion investment package therefore signals Vietnam’s ambition to accelerate a knowledge‑driven, high‑growth economy. By leveraging the Autumn Economic Forum and its WEF partnership, the country hopes to become a key node in emerging global growth networks.
