On October 20, an elderly foreign tourist dropped his mobile phone into Kim Thuy Lake at Hue Imperial City. The incident quickly became a story about local kindness.
Bui Ngoc Vinh, head of the Hue Heritage Photography Team, posted the event on social media. He said the team has more than 15 members who often help tourists.
Nguyen Duc Anh Dang, a young member of the team, waded into the lake and searched for more than five minutes. He felt the phone, brought it out, and the device was water‑resistant and not damaged. The tourist and his group cheered.
People praised the rescue, saying it shows the friendliness and hospitality of Vietnam’s former imperial capital. The story reminds us that small acts of kindness can improve a visitor’s experience and a city’s image.
