Vietnam was ranked fourth among 15 autumn travel destinations in 2026, behind Japan, Italy and Thailand, according to Lonely Planet. This shows why many travelers look at Vietnam for autumn trips.

Lonely Planet says autumn is the best time to visit Vietnam. In Hanoi, temperatures become milder, making walking easy. Ha Long Bay offers clear scenery and warm water, and the rice fields in Sa Pa and Tuyen Quang turn golden during the harvest.

Southern Vietnam stays warm in autumn and may have occasional rain, so visitors can enjoy activities all year. Tuoi Tre online newspaper also suggests other places for autumn, such as Cao Bang, Lang Son, Ninh Binh and Ta Xua.

The ranking was based on travel guidebook sales from late August to late September 2026, showing real interest from travelers. Vietnam’s mix of mild weather, beautiful scenery and many destinations makes it a top autumn travel choice.
