The ceremony in Jamaica on Oct. 12 announced that Vietnam beat nine other nominees—including Hong Kong, Japan, Singapore, South Korea and Thailand—to win Asia’s Best Cruise Destination. This award makes Vietnam worth learning about.

Vietnam’s cruising experiences go from the limestone islands of Ha Long Bay in the north to river trips in the Mekong Delta in the south. The Vietnam National Authority of Tourism says Ha Long Bay itineraries mix sailing, kayaking, cave visits, cooking classes and squid‑fishing, with both day trips and overnight stays among the karsts.

In the Mekong Delta, cruises let passengers see palm‑lined riverbanks, villages, local markets and tropical fruit. The tourism authority says these trips give a close look at life along the waterways.

The awards also named Vietnam the World’s Best River Cruise Destination and called Ha Long Cruise Port Asia’s Best Cruise Terminal. These recognitions show Vietnam’s strong appeal for cruise travelers.
