Vietnam was chosen to host the 2027 ASEAN U23 Championship. The decision was made at the AFF Competitions Committee meeting in Tokyo, Japan.
Hosting the tournament will let Vietnam’s U23 team keep playing international matches. It also helps the team check its players and improve before the 34th Southeast Asian Games in Malaysia in September 2027.
This will be the first time Vietnam hosts the competition. The AFF said this shows the Vietnam Football Federation’s credibility, experience and ability to run international events.
Vietnam played in the 2019, 2022, 2023 and 2025 editions. The team won the last three titles, all on foreign soil, showing strong youth football.
Hosting the 2027 ASEAN U23 Championship is a big step for Vietnam’s football. It helps the young team prepare and shows the country’s growing respect in the region.
