Authorities in Ho Chi Minh City have urged 141 households living in the Vinh Hoi apartment complex to relocate urgently. The complex was classified as Grade D, the highest danger level, after a structural safety assessment carried out in January 2017.

The 2017 assessment found that the building’s load‑bearing capacity was insufficient for normal use, putting the whole structure in a dangerous condition. The apartments were built before 1975, which contributed to the safety concerns.

The relocation plan aims to finish by December, according to the Khanh Hoi Ward People’s Committee. The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has allocated public housing to provide temporary accommodation for the affected families.

Residents who receive a temporary‑housing decision must contact the Housing Management and Construction Inspection Center of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction. They are required to view the assigned apartments, complete the necessary paperwork, and sign contracts before moving in.

The forced evacuation demonstrates how structural failures can abruptly disrupt everyday life, forcing families to leave their homes and adapt to new living arrangements. It also highlights the importance of clear government procedures to protect residents during such emergencies.
