Visitor numbers at Hoi An Ancient Town fell about 20% year on year, according to data for October 1‑20. The drop matters because travel bookings are now expected to grow strongly from November.
The article says the fall is linked to news reports and images of the 2025 floods, which made some travel companies limit Hoi An in their tour itineraries. This caused fewer sightseeing tickets to be sold in early October.
Conflicts and international uncertainty also reduced arrivals from Europe, a key source market. Travel experts said travelers avoid flood‑prone months of September and October and postpone trips, so bookings for November‑December are expected to exceed last year.
Da Nang authorities are coordinating measures such as events, inspections and price monitoring to attract visitors and improve the destination’s image. The key point is that the current dip is temporary and bookings should rise later in the year.
