At a bilateral forum in Ho Chi Minh City, officials and experts said Vietnam and India plan to deepen technology cooperation over the next five to ten years. The announcement matters because it could shape future study and work options for young Vietnamese.

The officials and experts listed artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, fintech, digital infrastructure and talent development as the main fields of cooperation. Nguyen Manh Cuong added that these sectors give Indian partners chances to conduct research, invest and test new technologies together with Vietnamese businesses, helping to spread technology across the Global South.

Cuong called for linking advanced technology training with real business demand, and said the Vietnam Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution in Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC C4IR) will act as the focal point for the partnership. India said that through HCMC C4IR it could provide advanced technology training programmes and capacity‑building for young Vietnamese people, including exchanges between the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay and a Ho Chi Minh City institution.

Both sides agreed to cooperate in biotechnology, marine science, advanced functional materials, information technology, AI and quantum computing, and to connect the startup ecosystems of Ho Chi Minh City and Mumbai. They also proposed linking the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay with a Ho Chi Minh City university to facilitate student and researcher exchanges.

Ajit Kumar said he hopes the cooperation will become more substantive in the next five to ten years, allowing the two countries to promote the democratization of technology across the Global South. For Vietnamese youth, this partnership could open new research, training and job pathways in fast‑growing tech fields.
