Ten holding companies have pledged $2.7 billion for the Vietnam International Financial Center in Ho Chi Minh City. This big investment can change Vietnam’s economy and raise the city’s global finance rank.
The largest pledge comes from Keppel Vietnam, which promised to raise $1 billion for infrastructure and commercial properties in VIFC‑HCMC. Saigon Marina IFC plans to raise $816 million to build technology infrastructure. AG&P will raise at least $425 million, and could increase this to $1 billion, for energy projects.
Ho Chi Minh City has moved up 17 places to rank No. 67 in the Global Financial Centres Index. VIFC‑HCMC wants to bring in banks, securities firms and other financial institutions. The centre will announce rules for investment funds in November.
The $2.7 billion pledge shows strong confidence in Vietnam’s new financial hub. If the projects succeed, the city could become a more important player in global finance.
