AgriChain Trading and Services JSC has signed a memorandum of understanding with Hainan Dongfang Pai Investment Co., Ltd. to supply Vietnamese green coffee to China. The deal highlights how modern traceability tools are becoming essential for meeting demanding overseas markets.

The agreement targets up to 200,000 metric tons of coffee over three years. At least 70% of the volume will be robusta beans, while arabica will not exceed 30%.

The coffee must comply with Vietnam’s export standards, China’s import regulations, and the European Union Deforestation Regulation criteria, Nguyen Canh Thang, chairman of AgriChain, said. Independent inspections will be carried out by organisations such as SGS or Bureau Veritas to verify quality.

Traceability will be managed through technology that records growing‑area identification codes, production processes, and transportation data, Thang explained. This digital record‑keeping aims to provide full origin transparency and satisfy food‑safety requirements.

By adopting traceability technology, Vietnamese coffee exporters can meet strict regulations and gain a competitive edge in markets like China and the EU. The AgriChain deal shows that transparency can turn compliance into a market advantage.
