Why Quarantine Papers Matter: The Ho Chi Minh City Poultry Seizure
Tầm quan trọng của giấy chứng nhận kiểm dịch: Vụ bắt giữ gia cầm tại TP.HCM
Source: Tuoitre
Ho Chi Minh City authorities recently stopped a large poultry shipment that had no quarantine certificates. The case shows why paperwork is needed to keep animals and food safe.
Around midnight, an inter‑agency animal disease prevention team inspected a vehicle on National Highway 22 in Cu Chi Commune. The team found 385 Muscovy ducks and 120 chickens, about 1.3 tonnes, coming from Dong Nai City.
The driver, P.V.U., said the whole shipment had no required quarantine certificates. The team issued an administrative violation report and sent the poultry to Hoc Mon Animal Quarantine Station for avian influenza testing.
Earlier, trucks from Dong Nai carrying nearly one tonne of pork, beef, cattle by‑products and goat meat were also found without certificates, and the drivers asked that the shipments be destroyed. This earlier case shows the same lack of paperwork.
These actions prove that quarantine certificates are essential to stop animal disease outbreaks and to keep food safe for people. Strong checks help protect public health.
