Deanna’s Kitchen on Changi Road posted a short video on Instagram. The clip got more than 11,200 likes and shows a diner washing his hands at the table, which many people found surprising.

In the video, a man wipes his hands with a tissue, opens a bottle of mineral water and pours it over his hands. The water splashes onto the floor, and a staff member quickly mops the mess while a washbasin can be seen less than five meters away.

The restaurant owners, Muhamad Asri Ramli and Denise Deanna Chew, said washing hands at the dining table is not appropriate. They added that it creates unnecessary work for staff and could endanger other diners.

The incident reminds customers that the restaurant already has a washbasin, toilet, hand soap and tissues nearby. Using these facilities keeps the floor dry and makes the dining area safer for everyone.
