Vietnam's Record 33 Universities in QS Asia Rankings Shows Growing Competition
Việt Nam lập kỷ lục với 33 trường đại học trong bảng xếp hạng QS Châu Á

Vietnam has a record 33 universities in the QS Asia University Rankings 2027, eight more than last year. This shows the country’s higher‑education is gaining more attention in the region.
Most Vietnamese schools fell in the list, but Vietnam National University, Hanoi stayed the highest‑ranked at 159th place. The rise to 33 schools shows broader Vietnamese representation, yet it also points to a more competitive Asian university landscape.
Some schools moved up. Phenikaa University climbed to 697th and Thuyloi University reached the 731‑740 range. At the same time, universities from China and Hong Kong hold eight of the top‑10 spots, highlighting strong regional competition.
The record number of Vietnamese universities means more schools are joining the QS assessment, but many still face tougher competition. Students should see both the growing opportunities and the need for higher standards in Asian higher education.
