Ida Gede Komang Kresna Budi, deputy speaker of Bali’s provincial legislature, suggested a new $60 tourist fee during a talk with Governor Wayan Koster on Oct. 29. The idea could change what visitors pay for in Bali.
The proposal calls for a $60 tourist fee that would fund a centralized payment and visitor service facility near Patung Kuda outside Ngurah Rai International Airport. The centre would offer cultural performances and welcome drinks for tourists.
The centre would also give visitors access to Bali Mandara Hospital and other international‑standard medical services. Kresna Budi emphasized transparent revenue distribution to support tourism facilities across Bali, and noted that foreign tourists now pay a Rp150,000 ($9) levy under the existing tax scheme.
If the fee is accepted, tourists could receive clear benefits such as culture shows, drinks and health care, while the money helps improve tourism services across the island. This could reshape the overall Bali tourism experience.
