The upcoming Samsung Galaxy S27 Ultra has drawn attention for its bland design, but three hardware upgrades could change the buying decision. Understanding how battery size, charging speed, and camera changes might outweigh the looks is useful for anyone considering a new flagship.

Leaked images show the S27 Ultra’s camera module arranged like OnePlus devices, while the rear camera island resembles an iPhone. Critics say this combination gives the phone little personality.

Samsung’s Ultra flagships have used a 5,000 mAh battery for seven consecutive years, and the 2026 Galaxy S26 Ultra also carries a 5,000 mAh cell. Rumors suggest the S27 Ultra could jump to a 7,000 mAh capacity, though a more realistic target is 6,000 mAh. Some leaks even point to a modest increase of 5,500‑5,700 mAh.

The current flagship supports 65 W fast charging, which is already faster than the older 45 W standard. Industry observers consider 100 W charging a practical goal that would noticeably shorten charging time in everyday use. If Samsung reaches that speed, the larger battery would become much more convenient.

The Galaxy S26 Ultra uses two telephoto sensors: a 1/3.94‑inch sensor for 3× optical zoom and a 1/2.52‑inch sensor for 5× zoom. Rumors propose replacing both with a single 4× optical zoom camera that has a substantially larger sensor. A bigger sensor could improve zoomed‑in photos, especially in low‑light conditions.

Even if the design feels uninspired, the possible upgrades in battery capacity, charging speed, and telephoto photography may make the S27 Ultra a compelling choice. Buyers should weigh these hardware improvements against the phone’s appearance before deciding.
