Authorities have put up warning signs and banned people from climbing Bang Am Mountain after a foreigner died there. Reading this will show why the ban matters for your safety.
Bang Am Mountain is not licensed for tourism. The mountain has steep slopes, deep ravines and many slippery parts, which become very dangerous in the rainy season.
The fatal accident happened when a foreigner tried to reach the summit without permission. Local officials said the road to the top is not safe for inexperienced motorbike or scooter riders, especially women, because of hazardous bends and steep slopes.
Bang Am is an emerging trekking destination and is included in Da Nang’s investment attraction plan. However, because of the safety risks, the authorities keep the ban, and visitors should respect the warnings.
