A new weather forecast shows heavy rain and high tides hitting Ho Chi Minh City this Sunday. Knowing the details can help you organise travel, work and safety plans for the next few days.
The Southern Regional Hydro‑Meteorological Station says the rain will be stronger on Sunday because a strengthening easterly wind convergence is affecting southern Vietnam. More than half of the region, including the city, could see heavy downpours, thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds, whirlwinds and hail.
At the same time, water levels in the Saigon River are rising. The agency expects peak tides between Monday and Wednesday, with levels of 1.65‑1.70 m at Phu An and Nha Be stations – about 0.05‑0.10 m above Level 3.
The weather agency warned that the combination of heavy rain and high tides could cause flooding in low‑lying riverside and coastal areas. It may also disrupt traffic and slow drainage, making city movement harder.
The weather agency said offshore, northeast winds of 29‑49 kph (gusts 50‑74 kph) will create 1.5‑2.5 m waves. Strong currents during falling tides could endanger maritime activities and beach tourism.
In short, the forecast predicts heavy rain, high tides and rough sea conditions that may affect daily life in Ho Chi Minh City. Planning ahead for possible floods, traffic delays and unsafe waters can reduce inconvenience and risk.
