The Japanese TV drama "Vivant" is making many people want to travel. Fans are now going to Azerbaijan to see the places where the show was filmed, and this creates new business chances for the country.
Fans of "Vivant" have been flocking to Azerbaijan to see the filming locations. Mayumi Kishi, a 47‑year‑old visitor from Tokyo, stood at the Palace of the Shirvanshahs, which the drama shows as Jerusalem.
Japanese travel agencies have reported strong sales of set‑jetting tour packages. An official of Hankyu Travel said sales are strong and some departures already have waiting lists, and the company is thinking of opening more booking slots.
The Bukinist bookstore in Baku appears in the drama as a secret base. The store manager said Japanese visitors come every day, take photos and videos, and that the drama helps create a warm bond between the two nations. Rashad Azizov, director‑general of Azerbaijan's Cinema Agency, said the drama is building a cultural bridge and he hopes more Japanese tourists will visit.
The example of "Vivant" shows how a popular TV show can boost tourism and bring two countries closer together. More visitors mean more business for local shops and hotels in Azerbaijan.
