Robot vacuums vs traditional mops: What the tests reveal
Robot hút bụi có thay thế được cây lau nhà truyền thống?

Can a robot vacuum really replace a good old mop? Recent tests show they each have strengths and weaknesses.
The writer spent over 6,000 yuan (about $900) on several cleaning appliances before switching back to a disposable electrostatic dust mop. They said smart machines need regular filter cleaning and dock maintenance, while the mop is light, uses disposable sheets that trap dust and hair, and cleans a room in about ten minutes.
Since the early 2000s, robot vacuums have become more sophisticated. They now use cameras, sensors and lasers to map a home, and higher‑end models can even return to their dock to have mop pads washed automatically.
In CHOICE’s laboratory tests, robot vacuums collected 88 % of dirt on hard floors, only 26 % on carpet, removed 54 % of pet hair from carpet and cleaned 65 % of corners and edges. CHOICE’s vacuum expert Adrian Lini explained that smaller motors and lighter brushes give robots less suction and agitation than conventional vacuums.
By contrast, a manual cotton mop that costs about $10 easily lifted dried jam and could bend into tight corners, according to the same CHOICE tests.
Cleaning experts recommend using a robot for daily upkeep in large, open rooms, while keeping a traditional mop handy for corners, stubborn stains and spills.
Understanding these differences helps homeowners pick the right tool for each cleaning task, saving time and money.
