A passenger on a Vietnamese train had a heart problem early Wednesday. Learning how the crew and police acted can help travelers stay safe.
Around 1:00 am on Wednesday, a tour guide told the crew that a 58‑year‑old Chinese tourist from Liaoning Province showed signs of a suspected cardiac arrest. The train SE48 was travelling from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang and was carrying nearly 200 Chinese tourists.
The crew quickly stopped the train at the nearest station, Suoi Kiet Station in Lam Dong Province, so the passenger could be taken to Suoi Kiet Medical Center. Nguyen Trong Van, chairman of the People’s Committee of Suoi Kiet Commune, confirmed that health workers said the tourist had died.
Police in Suoi Kiet Commune told the crew to move all passengers from carriage No. 7 to another area for verification and investigation. After the stop, the train continued its journey to Nha Trang.
The quick stop and police actions show the emergency procedures used on Vietnamese trains. Travelers can feel more confident that staff will respond fast in a medical emergency.
