A convertible with three people dressed as ‘jiangshi’ was seen on National Highway 91 in An Giang Province. None of them wore seat belts even though the car was equipped with them.
Police investigated after the video spread on social media. The driver, L.N.T.H., 22, was fined VND800,000 to VND1 million under Government Decree 168. Passengers N.T.D., 19, and T.T.T., 25, were each fined VND350,000 to VND400,000 for not wearing seat belts.
The fines follow Vietnam’s traffic safety violation decree and, in serious cases, such behavior can be treated as a disturbance of public order. This shows that seat‑belt violations are taken seriously by the authorities.
