The upcoming FIFA funding package is a major story for Vietnamese football fans. Understanding how the money will be used shows why the sport could change for many young players and supporters.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino announced the increase at the FIFA U‑15 World Cup. He said the FIFA Council decided to raise the amount so that Vietnam is expected to receive US$25 million for the 2027‑30 period.
The $25 million allocation is split into two parts: $10 million comes from the FIFA Forward 4.0 programme and $15 million from the FIFA Surplus Solidarity Programme. The additional funding will support youth football, women’s football and other development programs.
FIFA expects its global football development budget to reach $6.35 billion, more than double the original plan. This rise is linked to stronger commercial results from the 2026 World Cup.
The new money gives Vietnam a chance to build more youth academies and women’s teams. In the next four years, thousands of players could benefit from better training and facilities.
