The Philippines has just been named Destination of the Year by TripZilla, a well‑known travel guide in Southeast Asia. This award makes the country a hot topic for travelers.

On Nov. 1, the Philippines also won Best Dive Destination, Best Retirement Destination, and Sustainability Leader of the Year at the TripZilla Excellence Awards. Winning four awards shows the country’s strong appeal for many types of visitors.

TripZilla said the destination awards were decided by an independent evaluation process, while other categories such as hotels and travel agencies were chosen by public voting. This means the travel experts carefully reviewed the Philippines for the top spots.

TripZilla highlighted many attractions: Palawan’s limestone cliffs and turquoise lagoons, Boracay’s white‑sand beaches, Siargao’s surf culture, Vigan’s historic streets, Pampanga’s tasty cuisine, and the mountain landscapes of Northern Luzon. These places give visitors a wide range of experiences.

The Department of Tourism reported that the Philippines received 4.42 million visitors in the first eight months of 2026, a small increase from the previous year. The department aims for 6.4‑6.8 million arrivals by the end of the year, hoping the awards will help reach this goal.
